New Class Times Set For Weekly Tai Chi

The start of a New Year is a time that many people take advantage of starting something new whether it may be a new diet plan, starting a workout program or a new class of some kind. The City of Action has an option for those that want to ease into some type of fitness, offering T’ai Chi classes at a new time on Monday nights at the Teen Center and Wednesday nights at the Community Center from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. for $5 per person each night.

T’ai Chi Ch’uan instructor Mary Layton has been practicing T’ai Chi for over 30 years which has allowed her to see the slow paced workout give many students several health benefits.

T’ai Chi is a form of Chinese martial arts that was originally designed for self-defense and has been cultivated into a series of slow movements that improves memory, mindfulness, digestion, calmness and strength.
