Oak Riv Fire Calls

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, Sept.13 through Monday, Sept. 19. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

 

MONDAY, SEPT. 19

Crews spent the day doing apparatus and station maintenance. Every Monday, crews do a complete and thorough check on all assigned apparatus and equipment to include a detail cleaning of the apparatus.

2:21 p.m. – E26 (Riverbank) responded to 3600 blk of Castleberg Court for an unresponsive subject. On arrival with ambulance a female in full cardiac arrest was located. After a few minutes of CPR plus Narcan ROSC was achieved. The patient was transported to an area hospital.

 

SUNDAY, SEPT. 18

Battalion drills were conducted for the shift. Crews worked on putting hose lines in place on above ground evolutions and crews worked on aerial operations to support the interior operations.

 

SATURDAY, SEPT. 17

No time listed – Engine 29 (Knights Ferry) assisted CalFire TCU with a vehicle accident in the area of south Tulloch Road. Crews located a single vehicle involved with a deceased occupant. Engine 29 assisted the coroner with extrication and body recovery.

 

FRIDAY, SEPT. 16

No time, location listed – Engine 27, 28, Quint 22, and BC5 responded for the report of a grass fire threatening a structure in the Oakdale fire protection district. Two wildland engines were dispatched. On scene crews found approximately one acre of grass with no structure threatened. E27 and 28’s crews put a progressive hose lay around the fire. One wildland engine continued to assist with mop up. All other units were cancelled.

 

THURSDAY, SEPT. 15

The Haz Mat team conducted an all-hands quarterly training at the RFTC focusing on a response to unknown substances.

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 14

Companies rotated through Station 17’s training grounds for driver training and apparatus familiarization.

 

TUESDAY, SEPT. 13

Engine 28 (Oakdale) conducted drivers training (drafting).

2:52 p.m. – Grass 29 (Knights Ferry) was dispatched to assist CalFire TCU with a vegetation fire outside the community of Jamestown. The fire was contained to approximately 20 acres.

6:27 p.m. – E26 (Riverbank) responded to a medical aid on Newbrook Drive. While transferring the patient from her wheelchair to the gurney the patient became unresponsive. CPR was initiated by 26’s crew with OVA performing ALS procedures, after 15 minutes of compressions, ROSC was achieved. The patient was transported to MMC with two fire riders.

7:10 p.m. – Salida B12, Modesto G27, W27 and BC2 responded with Escalon to River Road and McHenry for a vegetation fire. Crews assisted with mop up for several hours.
