Order Holiday Poinsettias Now
Poinsettia flower

It’s getting to be poinsettia time again and the Riverbank Federated Women’s Club is ready once more to fill the bill.

Their bright red and green foliage brightens many homes for the holidays and the club is selling them again this year. The proceeds from the sales go toward scholarships for high school students and other club projects. Poinsettias are one of two major fundraisers the club uses each year.

The red poinsettias are $10 and the white or pink versions go for $12. Deadline for sales is Friday, Nov. 20, with pickup set for Saturday, Nov. 28, of Thanksgiving weekend.

The plants can be ordered from any Women’s Club member. Call President Marilyn McRitchie, 869-1760, for more information.

The plant derives its common English name from Joel Roberts Poinsett, the first United States Minister to Mexico, who introduced the plant into the United States in 1825. It is native to Mexico and Central America.
