On Your Mark Events presents its 20th Annual Salmon Duathlon and 5k Run on Saturday, Nov. 5, 8:45 a.m., in the historic hamlet and surrounding area of Knights Ferry. The Salmon Duathlon (run, bike, run) and 5k Run (two separate competitions) will benefit the preservation of the salmon natural spawning habitat in the Stanislaus River. This fall classic has become a very popular event for serious and weekend athletes throughout California. The Salmon Duathlon course distances consist, in the order of, a 5k Run (two loops), 30k Bike, and 2.5k Run (one loop). St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Oakdale will host the 11th Annual Craft Fair on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will be hosted at the Parish Hall, 55 Oak St., Oakdale. Close to 50 vendors are expected with items including quilts, jewelry, toys, leather goods and home décor. Proceeds from the event are used for Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for families in need. For more information call 985-1486.

The Stanislaus Senior Foundation will host its Annual Holiday Fundraiser on Friday, Dec. 9 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event will be held at the historic McHenry Museum, 1402 I St., Modesto. Hors d’oeuvres, wine and a silent auction will be offered for those in attendance. Tickets are $40 each and can be purchased on line at www.stanislausseniorfoundation.org or by calling 848-2635.

The annual Escalon Veterans’ Day activities are fast approaching and Riverbank resident Vince Giovaniello, who serves as Adjutant for the Escalon American Legion post, is looking for entries for the parade. The events of Friday, Nov. 11 will start with the parade on Main Street in Escalon, kicking off at 10:30 a.m. There will be a brief Memorial Service at the Community Center Memorial Wall following the parade and a chicken barbecue at the city’s Community Center served from noon to 3 p.m. Giovaniello is the parade coordinator and more information about participating in the parade is available by contacting him at 209-869-6978 or 209-604-9100. Parade entries are due by Monday, Nov. 7.

Have fun and get fit. Something for all ages with students young and old, T’ai Chi class with instructor Mary Layton is being offered every Tuesday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. There is a small charge, a $5 fee for the class, which is hosted at the Community Center in Riverbank.

Riverbank welcomes the REO Speechtrain Toastmasters Club for regular meetings every Wednesday morning, 6:30 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., at Perko’s Cafe, Patterson and Oakdale roads, Riverbank. This is a fun way to learn the self-confidence and skills needed for public speaking. All are invited to come and check out the group. The next meeting will be Wednesday, Nov. 9.
