The Oakdale Shelter Pet Alliance (OSPA) recently celebrated the completion of 2,500 dog and cat spay/neuters through their voucher program since it started in August 2011. Sarah Atwood and Mary Dunn, voucher customers from Riverbank, were all smiles when they were presented with Petco gift baskets for their pets in recognition of reaching the program milestone, thanks to Anna Gervasio of Petco in Riverbank.

OPSA volunteers and Eva Kennedie, ACT Spay Neuter Clinic Director, presented the Petco gift baskets in recognition of reaching the milestone with the voucher program.

“When we started the program about a dozen pets were fixed each month,” said OSPA Vice President Debi Scoles. “Now 40 to 50 dogs and cats are getting fixed through our program every month.”

Do you have a pet and can’t afford to get it fixed? OSPA volunteers will be on hand for low cost spay/neuter vouchers for cats and dogs for Oakdale and Riverbank residents at the Petco adoption event on Saturday, April 1 from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., as well as at the Oakdale Animal Shelter from 10 a.m. until noon. Proof of residency and low-income status required.

“OSPA’s voucher program is our biggest project and helps reduce the unwanted, unplanned litters that are at risk of entering the Oakdale Animal Shelter,” said Lisa Dolling, OSPA President.
