Riverbank Police Services officials recently announced that they have a number of upcoming events that the community is invited to take part in.

Authorities noted that the Fire Department and the Police Department met with City staff and the event organizer of the Cheese and Wine to start developing safety and security plans. They said, “We are meeting on a regular basis to ensure we have a great event for 2021.”

The Kids Health and Safety Annual Bike Rodeo will be held on Wednesday, July 14 at the Riverbank Community Center Park, 3600 Santa Fe from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be free bike registrations for those that ride their bike to the event, as well as health and safety information, food, crafts, and a bike raffle. New to the event this year will be a bike wheelie and trick contest for those bicyclists ages 13 to 18.

“We have expanded the event to include older kids to show off their talents in riding wheelies and tricks,” added authorities. “This is a great opportunity to build our relationship with this group and to give them a safe and controlled area to do what they love to do.”

National Night Out will be hosted on Tuesday, Aug. 3. They are in the beginning stages of planning this event and will start community outreach to encourage neighbors to get out of their houses and socialize.

All these activities are resuming after not being hosted in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown, so officials are hoping to see good participation from local residents as the state continues the reopening process.
