Riverbank Unified School District, RUSD, Project A.C.T.I.O.N. is hosting its 11th Annual Lights On Afterschool event on Friday, Oct. 20 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at California Avenue Elementary School. Project A.C.T.I.O.N. students and staff have coordinated this community event to demonstrate the importance of after school programs. Lights On will provide fun and engaging activities, informational booths from local businesses, food and more. Hundreds of parents, supporters and community members are expected to attend.
The after school program plays an important role in the lives of children, families and communities. RUSD is committed to keeping the lights on and doors open after school for the safety and success of our youth. Lights On highlights three significant program contributions: keeping kids safe and healthy, inspiring kids to learn, and relieving working parents of worries about their children’s activities during afterschool hours.
Participants of Lights On include District Superintendent Dr. Daryl Camp, Mayor Richard D. O’Brien, council member Darlene Barber-Martinez, council member Cal Campbell, School Board Trustees, Riverbank Police and Fire Department members, local business leaders, educators, other officials, and most importantly, the afterschool program youth.
California Avenue Elementary is at 3800 California Ave., Riverbank.
