Riverbank Historical Society Visits The Future To Fundraise
movie

It’s still not too late to participate and help out the Riverbank Historical Society and see a great movie at the same time. And it’s happening tonight.

The society is raising money to build an Annex building right next to the historic Carnegie Library that is the museum downtown, on Santa Fe Street, next to City Hall North. The campaign will expand what’s available to the public, but many of the society’s holdings are in storage, lacking adequate space to display them.

The current event features a showing of ‘Back to the Future’ tonight, Nov. 16, at the Galaxy Luxury+ Theatres on Patterson Road.

Although tickets have been on sale for weeks, there are still a few seats available. Tickets can be purchased at the door. Besides getting to see a classic film, the society is giving away three premium prizes to chosen attendees.

At the end of movie, the society will hold a drawing for three special prizes, according to Rich Holmer, project organizer for the society.

Possibly the most exciting part of the evening for some, Holmer said, is the opportunity to take a photograph with an original DeLorean automobile, outside the theatre. It’s similar to the one in the movie that utilizes a ‘Flux Capacitor’ to travel through time, piloted by Doc Brown.

Tickets to the ‘Back to the Future’ showing cost $25 each, which includes a chance to win one of the three prizes being presented after the film. Again, Holmer said, tickets will be available at the door at the Galaxy.
