A street fair-style market has returned to downtown Riverbank, with its attendant vendors, farm products and a variety of entertainment.

Renamed the Downtown Market, the event will be staged on Tuesday evenings for the next several weeks. Vendors are set up on Santa Fe Street, between Third and Fourth streets.

As in the past, fresh fruits and vegetables in season will be offered for sale by local farmers, but other food products will be sold, also. They include jams and jellies, locally produced olive oil and others. The fresh produce will change over the course of the market, with more items coming in to season during the weeks ahead.

In addition, art, gifts, clothing, jewelry and other items are offered for sale.

Also, as a regular presentation, music is provided to entertain shoppers strolling through the market area to visit the various vendor booths. Sometimes live, sometimes a DJ, the performer for the season’s first market on Tuesday, May 3 was singer/guitarist Jaimie Byous.

The Downtown Market is scheduled for every Tuesday in May and June, running from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Organizers are presenting live music, local food and hope to gather as many as 50 vendors to serve up a variety of fresh produce for market visitors.
