Organizers for the Riverbank Barracuda Swim Team took advantage of the warm weather this past Saturday, holding tryouts for children ages 6 to 8.

Two by two, shepherded when necessary by an in-the-water lifeguard, just in case, swimmers tackled the sometimes daunting task of navigating from one end of the pool to the other.

Those who successfully passed were notified at a team meeting held on Monday, May 22, at the Community Center. They were also told of their practice schedule and upcoming meets. As of the tryouts, the Barracudas were set for a two-home, two-away meet schedule with the Patterson team, the only others in the area, but officials said they hoped to be able to include a Turlock team in the competition this year as well.
