Monday this week, Aug. 30, marked the beginning of a month-long project that may close Roselle Avenue to thru traffic from time to time.

Contractors for PG&E started marking out and digging trenches in the roadway to access gas lines there.

The project will stretch between Patterson Road on the north to Westgate Drive to the south. Work hours are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., to last until Sept. 30.

Workers are expecting to have to close the roadway from time to time and are planning to set up detour signs to help drivers navigate the area.

Where recent work by PG&E contractors on Roselle were just spot excavations, presumably where gas line junctions occur under the street, the current project, involving trenching and major excavation, will involve the main pipes, themselves.
