There is always something going on at the Riverbank branch library, and the recent return of a special book club is one of those events.
Riverbank Mayor Richard D. O’Brien is once again stopping by the local library at 3442 Santa Fe, the third Tuesday of each month and spending some time reading to youngsters. It is open to kids of all ages and for the September club meeting, the mayor had several picture books to share with attendees.
The Mayor’s Book Club is scheduled at 11:30 a.m., with the next session set for Oct. 17.
Tuesdays also feature story time sessions at 11 a.m.; with story time on Oct. 3, Oct. 17 and Oct. 31; bilingual story time on Oct. 10 and Oct. 24.
Coming up on Saturday, Oct. 14, the library will present a special program, The Backyard is for the Birds, put on by UC Master Gardeners of Stanislaus County and scheduled for 2 p.m.
To close out the month, kids are invited to come to the library in costume on Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 3:30 p.m., for an opportunity to make spooky slime and enjoy some fun crafts. Also, join in a Monster Mash cupcake walk and take a guess at how much candy is in the jar for a chance to win it all.
