Oakdale-Riverbank Fire Calls 5-6-26

The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27, 28, 29 and 30 in Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Valley Home as part of Battalion 5; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area, as part of Battalion 2. Note: Shifts are in 24-hour time periods, from 5 a.m. to 5 a.m.

Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, April 28 through Monday, May 4. Days not listed had no reports of significant incidents in this area.

MONDAY, MAY 4

Annual pump testing began today on all Type 1 Engines, performed by Fleet.

Battalion 2: Engine 26 attended the Riverbank Student City Council to provide education on fire safety and responses.

8:34 p.m. – E26 responded to a motor vehicle accident on Kentucky Avenue in Riverbank, with a single-vehicle rollover yielding one patient transported to Oak Valley Hospital.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, and conducted Monday apparatus checks and Monday station maintenance.

3:35 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 27, Engine 26, Engine 23, Engine 29, Truck 5, BC5, BC2, and Medic 1 responded to a report of smoke coming from a residence on G Street and Kern Creek Court in the City of Oakdale. Engine 28 arrived on scene to a two-story residence with smoke showing from the windows and chimney. Crews operated in the offensive mode, quickly containing a room and contents fire in the living room of the first floor. Crews remained on scene for roughly two hours conducting overhaul and smoke removal. Once all hidden fire was extinguished all fire companies were placed back in service and the property was turned back over to the homeowner.

Battalion 5 attended the City of Oakdale Council Meeting.

SUNDAY, MAY 3

Battalion 5: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Crews worked on completing mandatory annual training.

The MCFFA softball team took home the championship trophy at the Battle of the Badges tournament at TL Davis Park in Oakdale.

SATURDAY, MAY 2

Battalion 2: Crews completed Saturday drills in their respective FMA’s. The drills focused on the skills listed in the annual skill task book.

Battalion 5: Companies completed daily apparatus and equipment checks.

Engine 27 trained on through the lock forcible entry techniques.

Engine 29 trained on water supplies at Knights Ferry School.

Engine 28, Battalion 5 and Oakdale PD supported a local entrepreneur’s lemonade and cookie stand. She was raising money to purchase her first horse.

4:12 p.m. – Engine 27, Engine 28 and Battalion 5 to Woodward Reservoir for a jet ski accident. Crews arrived on scene to find all occupants out of the water. One patient was treated for minor injuries and transported by OVHD medics to a local hospital.

FRIDAY, MAY 1

Battalion 2: Crews completed weekly engine checks on the Type III and VI apparatus at their stations.

Battalion 5: Crews in Battalion 5 completed daily station maintenance and apparatus checks, trained in their FMA’s and completed Target Solution assignments.

THURSDAY, APRIL 30

The MST Firefighter Academy class 26-01 completed training today and will begin their ride time next week.

Battalion 2: MST Fire Chief Shannon Evans, Deputy Chief Clint Bray, and Engine 26 attended the State of the City of Riverbank address.

Water Rescue 26 and BC2 participated in training with SR911 dispatchers.

Battalion 5: Crews in Battalion 5 completed daily station maintenance and apparatus checks, trained in their FMA’s and completed Target Solution assignments.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 29

MST members of the Central Valley Incident Management Team continued to participate in the C-520 Incident Management Training. The training is for Type I Incident Management Teams and consists of Incident Management personnel from across the state.

Battalion 2: Crews rotated through RT130 annual wildland refresher training at Turlock Lake.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, and conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

8 a.m. – Engine 29 responded to the 11000 block of Horseshoe Road in Knights Ferry for an EMS call. Crews arrived on scene and witnessed the patient go into cardiac arrect. Engine 29 immediately started ALS care on the patient and assisted Oak Valley Ambulance with patient care enroute to the hospital where crews were able to regain pulses.

12:30 p.m. – Engine 27/WT27, Engine 23/WT23 and Battalion 5 responded to a hay fire on Bentley Road. Crews arrived on scene to find approximately a 30’ x 100’pile of hay on fire immediately threatening a feed barn and multiple feed piles. An additional resource request was made bringing WT 39 from Hughson, Engine 9, Engine 24/WT24 and Engine 28. Crews were able to stop forward progress on the fire protecting the feed barn and the piles of feed that were threatened. Crews remained on scene for roughly 3½ hours for overhaul, utilizing heavy equipment to break the pile apart and extinguish all the hay before turning the scene back over to the dairy.

TUESDAY, APRIL 28

Crews trained on wildland refresher RT-130 at Turlock Lake.

Deputy Chief Jesberg attended the Salida MAC meeting.

Battalion 2: 7:53 a.m. – Engine 24, E21, Q22, BC2 responded to a potential residential structure fire in Waterford. On arrival, E24 reported light smoke emitting from the gable vents and upgraded the incident to a working residential response, bringing E9, E23, E28, BC5, FIU01 and Medic 1. Crews were able to locate and confine the source of the fire to an external wall with minimal extension.

8:37 p.m. – Engine 26 responded to a fence fire in the 2200 block of Patterson Road in Riverbank.

Battalion 5: Crews performed company level training in their respective FMA’s, completed mandated Target Solution assignments, and conducted apparatus checks and station maintenance.

Battalion 5 attended the Cal Fire Cooperators Meeting at Baseline Fire Camp.

Station 27 provided a tour of the fire station to a local Moms Club and their kids.

2 p.m. – Engine 28, Engine 9 and Battalion 5 responded to an injury accident on Albers Road just south of Rice Road. Engine 28 arrived on scene to find a solo vehicle accident with a sheared power pole and electrical lines down. Engine 28 along with Oak Valley Ambulance provided patient care for one patient with minor injuries. Crews secured the area and provided traffic control until PG&E could secure the power.

Water Rescue 29 and Water Rescue 28 conducted swift water boat training in Knights Ferry in the Stanislaus River. The training focused on patient picks, hovering and maneuvering.
