Norm graduated from Summerville High School in Tuolumne City, CA in 1951. He continued his education by attending Stockton College (Delta College) and earned an Associate of Arts degree. After attending community college, he transferred to Sacramento State University where he earned a bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree, Teaching Credential and Secondary Administrative Credential. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He started teaching at Oakdale High School in 1960 and retired in 2002. While teaching he met his future wife, Pam (Laird) Antinetti, in 1965. They married in December 1966 and their honeymoon was postponed until the summer of 1967 when they toured Europe for two months. He would often say, Pam was the love of my life. While at Oakdale High School he taught many subjects and coached many sports (Football, Basketball, Baseball and Tennis). He was the Activities Director for 32 years and Athletic Director for 11 years. He was involved with California Interscholastic Federation Sac-Joaquin Section by representing the Valley Oak League for 56 years. In 2001 he became the Commissioner of the Valley Oak League until his passing. He had many honors, awards and achievements throughout his life, and he was so proud of them all. Some of them were being inducted into Hall of Fame for Sportsmen of Stanislaus, CIF Sac-Joaquin Section, Oakdale High School and Summerville High School. One of the awards he created at Oakdale High School was the Norm Antinetti Lifetime Athletic Pass.
His involvement with the community of Oakdale was initiating the current Youth Basketball Program in the early 1960s. This involvement led to him being successful in lobbying to build the main gymnasium at Oakdale High School in 1970. The local public outdoor basketball court is named ‘Norman Antinetti Court’ for his tireless commitment to youth basketball. He coached youth basketball, baseball and swim team. He also invented the interlocking O and M brand that represents Oakdale High School. He was instrumental in developing the Oakdale Rotary Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament in conjunction with the Oakdale Rotary Club.
Norm was preceded in death by his wife, Pamela Antinetti, and his parents, Adolph and Ernestine (Rosasco) Antinetti of Tuolumne City, CA. He is survived by his children Amy Antinetti and David Antinetti (Rachelle), his grandchildren Dominic, Alivia and Carlo Antinetti and a host of loving relatives.
The burial was private in January 2022. A Celebration of Life will be on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the Oakdale Golf & Country Club at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the Norm and Pam Antinetti Scholarship Fund at Oakdale Joint Unified School District, 168 South Third Avenue, Oakdale, CA 95361.
