Modesto gas prices have fallen 4.7 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.56 per gallon, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 201 stations. Gas prices in Modesto are 20.9 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, yet stand 10.7 cents per gallon higher than a year ago.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Modesto was priced at $3.29/gallon on Monday, July 15 while the most expensive was $3.99/gallon, a difference of 70 cents per gallon. The lowest price in the state was $2.95 while the highest was $5.49, a difference of $2.54/gallon. The cheapest price in the entire country as of July 15 was $2.01 while the most expensive was $5.49, a difference of $3.48/gallon.

Neighboring areas and their current gas prices include: Stockton - $3.50/gallon, down 4.7 cents from last week’s $3.55; Oakland - $3.77, down 2.6 cents from $3.80; and San Jose - $3.70/gallon, down 2.7 cents from last week’s $3.73/gallon

The national average price of gasoline has risen 3.3 cents per gallon in the last week, averaging $2.79 gallon. The national average is up 11.4 cents per gallon from a month ago, yet stands 8.5 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

“For the third straight week, the national average price of gasoline has risen, following oil prices higher due to global geopolitical tensions, declining oil inventories and Hurricane Barry shut in oil production in Gulf waters,” said Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy. “With Barry in the rearview, we are unlikely to see major disruptions arise, and gas prices nationally will avoid seeing much of a price rise as a result.”
