Riverbank’s Chapter 9890 of the Royal Neighbors of America honored the service of local military veterans with its 14th annual Veterans Day Luncheon on Saturday, Nov. 12.
The event was hosted at the Stanislaus Veterans Center, on Coffee Road in Modesto.
The meal was catered by Central Valley Community Resources, and was served by members of the Stanislaus S.T.A.R.S. unit.
Royal Neighbors President Diane Talbert introduced the Johansen High School Jazz Band, led by Brad Hart, which performed through most of the event. While attendees were lining up to be served their food, members of the band assisted those who had mobility issues and needed help.
Talbert called upon Riverbank Korean War veteran ‘Fast’ Eddy Jones to help draw table numbers out of a basket, dismissing those seated there to get in the serving line. The good food and good conversation was a festive way to remind veterans that their service and sacrifice is remembered and appreciated.
