Baseball, Softball Underway On Riverbank Campus

Riverbank High baseball played its third week of pre-season games last week, while the softball girls saw their first two non-league games in recent days.

 

Bruin Baseball

Varsity baseball continued with two home games last week. They first saw Gustine come to Riverbank and hand them a 10-1 loss, in a game where they wore their older, white uniforms, on Wednesday, March 2.

The second game, on Friday, March 4, saw the Bruins sporting their new, maroon, jerseys, but it didn’t help them overcome the visiting Grizzlies of Mariposa County High School. Final score was 11-1 in favor of the visitors. And the new jerseys have different numbers assigned to players.

This week, Riverbank is slated to host Orestimba on March 9, then play at Summerville High School in Tuolumne County on Thursday, March 10.

 

Lady Bruin Softball

Riverbank softball kicked off the pre-season last Tuesday, March 1, at Gregori High School in Salida. They posted a narrow, 6-5, win there. Then, on Thursday, the Lady Bruins hosted Waterford’s Wildcats, recording a 21-0 victory.

This week, softball was to host Delhi on Monday, then play at Johansen High in Modesto on Tuesday as the preseason campaign continues.

 

Co-Ed Track And Field

Practicing for the past few weeks, the co-ed track and field team was set to open its pre-season action with a home meet on Tuesday March 8, after The News went to press. It was supposed to be a three-way competition, with Amador High School and Big Valley Christian both coming to the Angelo Novi Stadium on the RHS campus.

The Trans-Valley League Relays are scheduled for next Tuesday, March 15, with the Stanislaus County Meet set for Friday, March 18. And it will be hosted on the RHS all-weather track.

 

Co-Ed Tennis

Likewise, RHS tennis boys and girls have been practicing steadily, with their first match this year set for Friday, March 18, on the home courts. The Falcons of Millennium High School of Tracy are set to come for a visit.

 

Bruin Boys Golf

Riverbank linksters are set to tee off on Thursday, March 17, at the Oakdale Golf and Country Club, with Escalon hosting the match.

 

Bruin Boys Volleyball

Riverbank hosted the Mustangs of Venture Academy in Stockton on Wednesday, March 2. After losing the first game 23-25, the Bruins came back with three straight to take the match.

On Monday this week, volleyball was travel to Denair, then go to Ripon Christian on March 9. Next week, they’ll host Hilmar on Monday, March 14.
