Youngsters and oldsters, people of all ages flocked to the Stanislaus River at Jacob Myers Park over the past week, seeking relief from the recent 100-plus degree temperatures of the Central Valley. In addition to beach access to the water, the park features playgrounds, a walking-hiking trail, campground, picnic and barbecue areas, and lots of shade. The park is expected to be busy again this week as well, with the triple digit temperatures forecast to continue. The July 4 holiday on Monday likely will see plenty of people packed in for a day of riverside fun.

A free concert in the park featured jazz and blues music on Friday and a free movie on Saturday night after dark entertained park goers.

On weekdays, Jacob Myers Park offers free access to the playground, picnic areas and the water. On weekends, when space is limited, there is a $5 parking fee at the park.
