On Riverbank High School’s sports calendar, football season is over and basketball is about to begin, so Bruin cheerleaders are busy shifting gears, bringing their music and formations indoors to the Ray Fauria Memorial Gymnasium on the RHS campus to practice.
The RHS football schedule provided seven opportunities for the crew to strut their stuff over the 2017 campaign, with possibly the biggest night coming on Sept. 22, the Homecoming game. Cheerleader Klarissa Valadez was crowned as Homecoming Queen on that night.
The 2017-18 Bruin boys basketball season begins with a four-team scrimmage on Saturday, Nov. 18. The annual Tip-Off Tournament hosted by the Bruins will start on Thursday, Nov. 30, with a few others on the schedule before the end of 2017.
On the boys’ schedule, there are 14 home appearances this year, ending with Senior Night set for Tuesday, Feb. 13.
The Lady Bruin listings show the season starting with a series of tournaments on the road. Their first home game won’t be until Saturday, Dec. 9. Their last home game will be Feb. 8, Senior Night, against Ripon.
On the soccer pitch, Lady Bruin soccer starts play on Tuesday, Nov. 28, but they won’t play on the home field until Dec. 5, against Johansen High of Modesto. The girls’ season ends at home on Wednesday, Feb. 14 against Hilmar.
Boys’ soccer starts with a scrimmage at home against Amador, on Tuesday, Nov. 21, with a series of tournaments early in December. Their season ends with a final home game for Senior Night on Feb. 7 and they play the regular season finale on the road on Feb. 14.
