The California Department of Fish and Wildlife’s (CDFW) Shared Habitat Alliance for Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Program and the California Waterfowl Association (CWA) have partnered to offer fall hunting opportunities on private lands from Orland to Lost Hills.

The SHARE program is currently offering fall hunts for turkey, quail and dove on two properties in Santa Barbara County. These remote ranches in West Cuyama Valley encompass 1,000 acres between them and will offer separate hunting opportunities. Approximately 250 acres of U.S. Bureau of Land Management land adjoin these ranches and the Los Padres National Forest backs up to both ranches, providing extra access if needed.

CWA’s Hunt Program provided access to private and exclusive lands to 650 hunters last year, and the program is already accepting applications for dove, early-season goose and pig hunts, with waterfowl hunts to follow soon. The dove hunt deadline ends Aug. 17.

All hunting opportunities through the CWA Hunt Program are done through an application-based lottery system for a fee of $4. Hunters can apply online for dove, turkey, pig and waterfowl hunts across the state of California and Oregon. Hunt deadlines end each month during the hunting season.
