Junior Bruins Drop Weekend Contests

The Riverbank Junior Bruins took on the Salida Steelers this past Saturday with success proving elusive despite the efforts of the young football squads.

Playing at Gregori High School, the Steelers celebrated their Homecoming games with wins in all four age groups.

Riverbank’s Junior Novice team fell 24-0, and the Novice team lost 26-0.

The JV team went down 34-8 and the Varsity closed out the day taking a loss, 24-7.

The youngest Jr. Novice team is for 7- and 8-year-olds. The Novices are 9- and 10-year-olds. The Junior Varsity Junior Bruin players are 11 and 12, and the Varsity is 12-½ to 14-year-olds.

All four teams will be back in action this weekend, looking to put a win on the books.

The Jr. Novice team is scheduled to play at home on Saturday, Sept. 17, at 12:30 p.m., Novice at 2 p.m., JV at 4 and varsity at 6 p.m. for the fifth week of their season.
