As the fall semester wound to a close for the Riverbank Bruins this past week, the boys varsity basketball team tallied two winning games on the home court.

The first, against the Bullfrogs of Bret Harte High School from Angels Camp, was on Tuesday, Dec. 15. After being down by one point at the half, the Bruins slipped to six down midway through the fourth quarter before pulling out a 60-56 victory at the final buzzer.

The JV Bruins lost by just 10 points, 61-51 in the middle game, and the Bruins freshman team continued their winning ways with a 61-23 victory in the evening’s early game.

Again, at the end of the week, the varsity Bruins did well, hosting the Sonora Wildcats and playing to a solid 66-46 win in the final game before the school’s winter break began, on Friday, Dec. 18.

The JV Bruins lost 80-41 in the opening game. There was no freshman game against Sonora.

Though school is out and won’t resume until after the start of the New Year, basketball action continues during the holiday break from classes.
