Riverbank’s varsity football Bruins hosted their second home game on the new facility at Angelo Novi Stadium on Friday, Sept. 18. They hosted the Linden Lions, but the result resembled the outcome of the game the week before, the independent Bruins taking a loss.
RHS did score, near the end of the first quarter, leaving the score 21-6 at the time, following a missed point after attempt. The frame ended at 28-6.
Though the Bruins found some success with their passing game, making some gains in the second quarter, the half ended with the host team down 35-6.
The third quarter ended 42-6 and the game wrapped up at 49-6. The JV score ended with a 40-0 loss to the Junior Lions.
Next up for Riverbank is a home game welcoming the Brookside Christian Knights of Stockton this Friday, Sept. 25. Game times are 5:30 p.m. for the junior varsity, with a 7:30 p.m. start scheduled for the varsity contest.
Girls Volleyball
The Lady Bruins finished up their pre-season schedule with a match against the Panthers of Modesto High on Tuesday, Sept. 15, before hosting their first league game against the Lady Yellowjackets of Hilmar on Thursday, Sept. 17.
Despite a lot of good play, RHS lost that match in three games, 25-11, 25-11, and 25-9. The JV team did the same, falling to the junior varsity Hilmar girls, three games to none.
This week, they were to host the Lady Cougars of Escalon on Monday, then travel to Mountain House on Wednesday, Sept. 23. On Saturday, Sept. 26, the Lady Bruins are set to compete in the Oakdale Invitational.
Girls Golf
The Lady Bruin linksters were to be at Hughson on Tuesday, Sept. 22, then travel to Orestimba of Newman on Thursday, Sept. 24, all working up to the Trans-Valley League Mid-Year Tournament at Micke Grove Golf Links in Stockton on Monday, Sept. 28.
Riverbank next hosts golf on Thursday, Oct. 1, meeting Ripon Christian on the Lady Bruins home course in Escalon.
