Riverbank’s tennis coach Bruce Edwards reported that the Bruin team continued its run in the middle of playoffs for the Division II Championships. This past Wednesday, he said, they beat Waterford in the first round, 9-0.

On Monday, May 7 they were scheduled to be at home facing Argonaut in the second round. If they won that match, they will play today, May 9, for the championship in Stockton.

Earlier, in singles and doubles Section play at Oak Park in Stockton, Alondra Ibarra and Selena Garcia finished third in girls doubles, Alex Alfaro placed fourth in boys singles and Luis de la Santos and Jesus Aguiniga teamed up to place fourth in boys doubles. Edwards noted that this result was the most number of medals won by Riverbank teams in Section Tennis.

Bruin Baseball

In action during the past week, Riverbank’s varsity baseball team lost a pair of games. Both contests were played against the Ripon Indians, in a ‘home and away’ series. They fell in the games by scores of 10-4 and 7-2, respectively.

The boys finish their season at home tonight, Wednesday, May 7 with Senior Recognition, against Modesto Christian High School.

Softball Girls

The Lady Bruins were to finish out their season at home yesterday, Tuesday, May 8, with Senior Recognition activities, also against Modesto Christian.
