Riverbank’s Lady Bruins varsity volleyball team was victorious on their home court, enjoying a win in front of the hometown fans.

The girls volleyball teams hosted the Lady Mustangs of Mountain House High School on Monday, Oct. 19, coming away with the win in four games. The first game was close all the way, with the Lady Bruins finishing behind, 24-26. High School volleyball games are played until there is a winning margin of two points, normally to 25 points.

The next two games were equally close, but Riverbank came out on top, 25-21 and 25-18. The final game was a little more one-sided, with the Lady Bruins stretching out to a 25-10 victory to wrap up the best of five match.

The JV Lady Bruins lost the early match to Mountain House, falling 19-25 and 10-25. The younger teams play a best of three games match.

On Wednesday last week, the teams traveled to Hughson, where the varsity was not as successful, but still playing to four games, ultimately falling to the host Lady Huskies by a 3-1 margin. Riverbank was again close in the first game, losing 23-25, then won the second game, 25-21. But they dropped the final two, 21-25 and 17-25

No Junior Varsity game score was reported.

The Lady Bruins play their final home game of the season tonight, Wednesday, Oct. 28 taking on the Lady Indians of Ripon High School. The JV game is scheduled at 5:30 p.m., with the varsity game following, usually starting by 6:30 p.m.

Since it’s the last home game, the Bruin Boosters will be hosting a Senior Night honoring those on the team who are playing their final time before a home crowd.

Riverbank’s concluding match of the 2015 season is set for Monday, Nov. 2, when the Lady Bruins travel to Modesto Christian High School to take on the Lady Crusaders.
