Volleyball Girls Win, Soccer Boys Take Loss

Action on the court, the pitch and the greens kept Bruin teams busy this past week. Here is information regarding the action.

 

Girls Volleyball

The Lady Bruin Varsity squad claimed a win, 3-1, after four games of volleyball action, hosting Summerville High from Tuolumne City on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Scores were 25-27, as the visitors took the first game, but the Lady Bruins regrouped to rattle off three straight wins to seal the match, 25-23, 25-21, 25-17. Riverbank lost three games to two on Thursday, Sept. 10, against the Lady Lancers of East Union, pushing their opponent to the full five-games before losing in the finale.

Scheduled this week, the ladies were to travel to Modesto High to meet the Lady Panthers on Tuesday, Sept. 15, before starting league play by hosting Hilmar on Wednesday, Sept. 16.

 

Boys Soccer

The Bruin varsity soccer team was handed a tough loss on Tuesday, Sept. 8, hosting the Vikings of Johansen High School in Modesto. After tying the match at 1-1 just before halftime, Riverbank fell 2-1 by game’s end. This week, they were scheduled to host Hilmar in their Trans-Valley League opening match against the Yellowjackets on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

 

Girls Golf

The Lady Bruins were scheduled to travel to the Yellowjacket Invitational on Monday, Sept. 14 after The News went to press. In a busy week, they were scheduled to host Gustine on Tuesday, Sept. 15 and then host Mountain House on Thursday, Sept. 17.
