The Oakdale Baseball Association recently hosted its annual youth baseball tournament and teams from all over the area showed up over the weekend, as the Riverbank All Stars attended and opened a long stretch of tournament baseball over the next few weeks.

The Riverbank All-Stars joined five other teams in the 15-under bracket played at T.L. Davis Sports Complex in Oakdale and had little problems turning some heads after a lopsided victory over host Oakdale.

Riverbank put together a solid effort during a tournament opening loss to Ceres on Friday, but shook off the close loss in fine fashion by dealing Oakdale a double-digit loss in the tournament's second round on Saturday.

Riverbank cruised to victory behind a solid effort from starting pitcher Tyler Schuurman against Oakdale. Schuurman was able to keep the usually potent Oakdale offense stymied throughout the contest, holding the Oakdale squad to just a couple of hits during the 12-1 loss.

After slipping to Ceres (grey) in the opener, Riverbank found itself looking to win back-to-back games when they took on another Ceres (red) program after putting away Oakdale.

Ceres (red) jumped all over a couple of Riverbank miscues early in the contest and used an assortment of pitchers to keep the Riverbank bats silent.
