The Riverbank High tennis team moved toward its ninth win in league play with relative ease, blowing by the Ripon Christian Knights 6-1 on April 23 to move to 9-2 in league action.
The pleasure of the victory was short-lived, though, as the Escalon Cougars remained undefeated in Trans-Valley League matches, beating Riverbank 6-1 for their 11 consecutive TVL win.
Danny Geren outfought a stubborn Jody Hoag of Ripon Christian 6-2, 6-3 for the win in No. 1 singles play in the Wednesday match. Raquel Medina matched Geren's round with a 6-3, 6-0 win of her own. Steve Caton and Matt Nelson teamed up for a straight set win in boys doubles action, while Marlene Lizarraga and Charli Perez outlasted Ripon Christian's Maria Boersma and Kelsey Carralho for a 6-3, 6-4 win.
