Although the Lady Bruin volleyball squad missed out on one match last week, they did get in a second competition on Thursday, Sept. 30.
Even though they were on the original Trans-Valley League schedule this season, Modesto Christian High School did not field a volleyball team this year, so their match on Tuesday, Sept. 28, was left as a bye for Riverbank.
They did compete against Ripon High on Thursday, but came up short, 13-25, 12-25, and 15-25.
Girls volleyball was scheduled to host Hughson’s Lady Huskies on Tuesday, Oct. 5, and play on the road at Escalon on Thursday, Oct. 7.
Cross Country
The Trans-Valley League’s Mid-Season Meet came to Riverbank last Wednesday, tearing up the 2K and 5K courses marked out in Jacob Myers Park on Sept. 29.
Freshman and JV runners, both girls and boys, took to the 2K route first, then the varsity boys and girls ran the more than double the circuit to finish out the day.
Originally the meet was scheduled for the River Bluff Regional Park in Ceres, but was moved to Riverbank because of concerns officials had.
The TVL Finals are also now set for Jacob Myers, on Wednesday, Oct. 27. RHS will run in Fresno on Saturday at Woodward Park.
Bruin Football
On Friday, Oct. 1, Riverbank’s varsity football team took a tough loss in Ripon, falling 55-6 to the host Indians, in TVL action. Riverbank scored its lone touchdown in the second quarter, and both teams were blanked in the fourth frame.
The Bruins travel to Hughson this week. RHS does not field a JV team this year.
Lady Bruin Golf
RHS girl golfers were set to host Livingston on Oct. 5, after The News went to press, and travel to Denair for a match on Thursday, Oct. 7. They’re also scheduled to compete in the Bulldog Invitational in Tracy on Monday, Oct. 11.
