Solid Team Effort Pushes Barracudas Past Orcas

Hosting what proved to be a head to head match up of the Escalon Orcas and Riverbank Barracudas, the Riverbank swim team was just a few points better on Friday night, taking a 126-110 win out of the pool.

Five points were awarded for all first place finishes on the night, three for second place and a point for the third place finishers in each event, with the competition close all the way through.

It was the third meeting of the squads this season, though the Delhi Sailfish had also been present at the first two meets. The competitive season wraps up with a meet in Escalon on Friday, Aug. 1 at 6 p.m.

First place honors for the Barracudas came first from the 6-10 100 free relay team of Lily Kahlon, Bryce Allen, Madison Keys and Abigail Neeley, 1:27.06 with the 200 free relay team in the 11-12 group also taking first, 2:17.50, featuring Mariah Cooper, Catherina Tam, Dominic Madueno and Justin Yee.

Another relay win followed for the 13-18 200 free relay squad of Amber Esperanza, Mitchell Bryant, Kaylyn Rudd and Vanessa Yee, first in 2:24.92.

Justin Yee was first in the 100 IM 11-12, 1:20.31; Alicia Gonzales, first, 50 free 9-10, 40.60; Dominic Madueno, first, 11-12 50 free, 32.53.

In the 13-18 100 free, Vanessa Yee came out on top, 1:14.89.

Dylan Flores took first in 35.50 in the 25 breast in the 7-8 category, Catherina Tam was first in the 11-12 breast in 43.75 and Madison Keys took first in the 9-10 50 back, 56.06.

In the 50 back for 11-12, Mariah Cooper finished first, 39.63 with Brooke Allen first in the 13-18 100 back, 1:44.81. Taking first in the 50 fly 9-10 was Abigail Neeley, 1:04.19 and Justin Yee was first for the Barracudas in 34.84 in the 11-12 50 fly.

Finishing first in the 200 IM relay, 11-12, was the team of Mariah Davis, Tristen Platt-Magallon, Emily Foley and Nicholas Wood, 3:13.75 and the team of Mariah Cooper, Catherina Tam, Justin Yee and Dominic Madueno finished first in 2:37.38 in the 13-18 200 IM relay to close out the meet.
