Riverbank High School sophomore Giselle Fernandez, wearing bib number 1382, competes in the California Interscholastic Federation State Cross Country Championship on Saturday, Nov. 25 at Woodward Park in Fresno. Fernandez is the sister of German Fernandez, who in 2007-08 began setting local and state records in distance running events at RHS. She was born the year that German was a senior, 2008. Giselle competed against 194 other runners in the CIF Division IV run, coming in 24th, at a time of 18:54.9. It has been reported that she posted the 18th fastest time by a Stanislaus County female runner over that course.
