Riverbank students returned to a regular school day schedule last week, following Thanksgiving Day time off, with a jam-packed set of games and matches for athletes, all on the home fields.
Bruin Boys Basketball
The Foundation Game started off the busy week, on Monday, Nov. 28, with traditional foe Johansen coming to town. Riverbank defeated the visiting Vikings, 55-48, in the preseason game that raises funds for CIF scholarships.
The end of the week saw the Bruins busy on the basketball court as well, with competition over three days of the Ron Peterson Tip-Off Tournament.
On Thursday, Dec. 1, Riverbank defeated Waterford, 61-26. The next night, the Bruins weren’t so fortunate, falling 69-54, to the Red Hawks of Calaveras High School in San Andreas. On Friday, Dec. 3, they dropped their final tournament contest to Ripon Christian High School’s Knights, 54-41.
Calaveras went on to meet the Tigers of Patterson High, who ended up as the tournament champions.
Riverbank plays in another tournament this week, at Turlock High School.
Lady Bruins Basketball
Riverbank’s girls hosted the Ceres Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday last week, winning 69-29, bringing their preseason record to 4-0 so far. Next week, they’ll travel to Mariposa, and won’t be back on the home court until January.
Lady Bruin Soccer
RHS girls soccer hosted Gustine on Wednesday, Nov. 30, in a non-league match, besting the Lady Reds, 2-1. They were to play at Weston Ranch on Dec. 6, and travel to Gustine for another match on Dec. 8.
