All Star players have been named for the Riverbank Youth Baseball League.

They will compete in Major, Minor and Pony division games on Saturday, June 19 in a Fathers Day tournament at Castleberg Park.

The Minor All Stars include Markus Benson, Trey Jones, Nick Valadez, Logan Nabors, Jacob Friedrich, Jonah Friedrich, Tristin Rodgers, John Vetter, Kyle Balestreri, Levi Shandrew, Jake Dinis, Zack Vannest, Gabriel Flores and Tim Groen.

The League's own ballpark on California Avenue opposite the school has undergone extensive improvements this season, said president Steve Arnold.

The officials' box and snackbar was repaired and reroofed, a large awning raised over the bleachers and extensive painting done.

The park was put in such good shape, it was pressed into service for a three-day state tournament over the Memorial Day weekend.

The tournament drew more than 100 teams from as far away as Los Angeles and Nevada. It used Rainbow Fields and Castleberg Park, in addition to the Riverbank league California Avenue ballpark.

After the All Star games set for Fathers Day, the league plans to conduct closing day ceremonies on June 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Castleberg Park.

Each player will receive a trophy. But there also will be family fun in the shape of dunk tanks, water slides, face painting and a tri-tip barbecue. More than 800 people attended last year, and more are expected this time.

Arnold also reported the League will have a fireworks stand this July 4 to raise funds for improvements. The stand will be set up at the Sno White Drive-In at Atchison and Fifth streets.

Funds raised will go toward constructing a building as a permanent base and practice area for the league.
