March Events Offered At Riverbank Library

Community members of all ages can take part in free events scheduled at the Riverbank Library this month.

Preschool Story Time will be held on Mondays during March at 10:30 a.m.

Story Time features new and classic picture books, flannel board and puppet stories, fingerplays, music and dancing, for preschoolers ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers, however, all ages are welcome.

Bilingual Story Time will be offered on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Children can enjoy Spanish and English picture books, flannel board and puppet stories, fingerplays, music and dancing. This program is designed for ages 3 to 6, however all ages are welcome.

The library celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday with a party on Tuesday, March 6.

Community members are invited to receive free tax preparation assistance from IRS trained Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) volunteers on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tax prep sessions will be held through March 28. Advance registration is required. Call 209-869-7008 to sign up.

The Mayor’s Book Club will be held on Monday, March 12 at 11 a.m. Mayor Richard O’Brien will read a story to preschool age children and their families at the library following Story Time.

Children ages nine and up are invited to learn the Japanese art of Kumihimo loom braiding on Tuesday, March 13 at 3:30 p.m. Crafters will learn how to use this technique to make key chains. Advance registration is required as there are a limited number of looms available. Call 209-869-7008 to sign up.

This month’s Art Lab program will be held on Tuesday, March 20 at 3:30 p.m. Children will make artwork out of scribbles, and experiment with drawing in a continuous line. Art Lab is sponsored by the Friends of the Riverbank Library.

The Riverbank Library Book Club will meet on Tuesday, March 27 at 4 p.m. to discuss The Silver Star by Jeannette Walls. Library book clubs provide an opportunity for community members to expand their knowledge of books through meaningful discussion with others.
