Penny Hoffman, age 77, loving wife of 55 years to Peter Hoffman; mother of Amy Elste (Ed) and Greg Hoffman (Deanna); grandmother to Severin and Charlie Elste, Reed and Jill Hoffman; sister to Beverley James; preceded in death by her parents, Dr. William S. Smith and Dorothy Smith. She was raised in Piedmont, CA and resided in Oakdale for the past 46 years. Penny loved her many years of teaching elementary school in San Jose and Riverbank. She was an amazing historian and next to her family, her deepest love was Hawaii. The family would like to thank Penny’s caregivers for their love and caring support over the past few months. She will be missed dearly by all those who know and love her. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may go to The Community Hospice of Modesto.
