The clock keeps ticking away for spring sports athletes at Riverbank High School, with the end of the season, and the end of the school year, ever nearer. Some sports have already ended, some finished last week, and a few others are wrapping up soon.
Bruin Baseball
Riverbank boys have played their last games, with their Tuesday, April 29 contest their last home outing. It was also Senior Night, the last appearance before the home crowd for the two seniors on the team, Matthew Machado and Esteban Ruiz.
RHS fell 13-2 to the visiting Red Hawks from Calaveras High School from San Andreas, and finished their season on the road on Friday last week, at Linden, going down 13-3 to the Lions.
Lady Bruin Softball
Riverbank girls fell to the Lady Red Hawks of Calaveras at home last Tuesday, 15-2, and again, to the Lady Indians at Ripon on Thursday, May 1, by a score of 9-2. They were to travel to Angels Camp on Tuesday, to take on the Lady Bullfrogs of Bret Harte. The softball girls will finish their season with a Senior Night, the last home game, hosting Summerville’s Lady Bears on Thursday, May 8 at 4 p.m.
Track and Field
Riverbank will host two major Mother Lode League events this week, the MLL Championship Trials on May 7, and the Championship Finals on Friday, May 9. On both days, field events will begin at 4 p.m., with the running events starting at 6 p.m.
Bruin Co-Ed Tennis
The netters are scheduled to host a first round California Interscholastic Federation Sac-Joaquin Section playoff match, May 7 against Delhi.
