Bruin Football
It was a night for celebrating. Riverbank’s varsity gridders played their next to last game as they welcomed Bret Harte to town for the Bruin Homecoming on Friday, Oct. 24. The Bruins weren’t able to get on the scoreboard in the first half and trailed at the midway point, but came on strong in the second half, ultimately posting a 21-14 victory over the visiting Bullfrogs out of Angels Camp. The win capped a busy Homecoming Week on the RHS campus.
The Riverbank team travels to Lathrop to take on the River Islands High School Riptide to close out the season on Thursday, Oct. 30. The Bruins head into the finale with a 3-6 overall mark, 2-4 in Mother Lode League action.

Riverbank’s players closed out their regular season last week, with two home games.
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, they lost to Mariposa County High School, 25-0, on Senior Night, but on Thursday, Oct. 23, they hosted Delta Charter from Tracy, winning 49-0 to close out the regular season.
As the regular season ended, the team was notified that it was selected for a “play in” contest for the Sac-Joaquin Section D4 tournament. As the number 14 seed, Riverbank drew the number 19 seed Escalon Lady Cougars. The teams battled through a scoreless first half on Monday evening, Oct. 27 at Angelo Novi Field but Escalon tallied twice in the second half, taking a 12-0 decision off the field to end Riverbank’s season. The Lady Bruins went 6-4 in the Mother Lode League this season, good for a third-place finish, and were 10-15 overall.
