Athletes Play Through Busy Week Before Spring Break
Rosas
Bruin Victor Rosas, 10, spikes a shot against the visiting Indians of Ripon High School in boys action at home on Thursday last week. It was the second match Riverbank played host to last week in their first year of volleyball for boys, meeting Hughson on Tuesday.

Riverbank High athletes were busy making up for lost time last week, but it made for a hectic schedule for some, cramming in rained out games from earlier in the season. It made for back to back games in some cases. Teams are off for spring break this week.

Bruin Volleyball

The Riverbank boys played a pair of Trans-Valley League matches last week, on Tuesday and Thursday, changing uniforms between games. They no longer have to wear cast off basketball shirts, but it means many players have new numbers on their T-shirt-style jerseys.

On March 27, they hosted Hilmar, suffering a 3-0 loss, then played and fell in a 3-1 loss against the visiting Indians of Ripon High.

Lady Bruin Softball

RHS girls softball posted a big come-from-behind win against the visiting Lady Indians from Ripon High School. After spending most of the game down 5-0, they fought back in the sixth inning. Then they stopped a seventh inning Ripon rally with a close play for an out at third base which had to be appealed and reversed, but it cemented the Riverbank win.

Track and Field

Riverbank throwers, runners and jumpers hosted the Huskies of Hughson for a dual meet last Wednesday, continuing with Trans-Valley League action.

RHS Baseball

Bruin varsity hardballers had back-to-back, home and away games with Escalon last week. On Wednesday, they hosted the Cougars, battling in a 9-1 loss, then turned around and traveled to Escalon on Thursday, suffering a 10-0 shutout there. The JV Bruins also dropped two games to the Escalon team, falling in the back-to-back games.

Both varsity and JV teams are participating in the Ceres Tournament this week, during spring break, and then all teams resume league play next week, when classes are back in session.
