Spring was in the air and baseball was on the field over the weekend in Riverbank.

The varsity and JV Bruin boys baseball teams joined up for the traditional Silver and Maroon scrimmage on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 17, on the RHS varsity field.

Catchers caught, batters batted, fielders fielded, and pitchers pitched ... a little bit. Varsity Bruin coach Scott Chambers subbed on the mound between appearances by varsity pitchers.

The workout was intended to kick out all the cobwebs and get the teams on track for the coming season, and no one was keeping score. It was noted some good contact with the ball was made, and a few runs crossed the plate.

The Bruins were to hold another scrimmage on Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 21, hosting Big Valley right after school. The first pre-season games start on Friday, Feb. 23, at Patterson. Riverbank’s first home baseball game is scheduled for March 5.
