Online And In Person Wildlife Programs Offered
cd

Take advantage of a couple of special programs being offered through the California Department of Fish and Wildlife this month.

The Nimbus Fish Hatchery is hosting a series of free public webinars, 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. on Thursdays, Nov. 12 and 19; and Wednesday, Nov. 25 via Zoom. These free public webinars will be broadcast live from the Nimbus Fish Hatchery for all ages to enjoy from a safe social distance. Because the Visitor Center is currently closed, they are offering everyone the opportunity to connect with wildlife and our hatchery experts. Information on each webinar and a link to register (required) will be posted to their Facebook page at www.facebook.com/nimbushatchery. For additional information, contact stephanie.ambrosia@wildlife.ca.gov or call (916) 358-2884.

An in person activity is offered on Saturdays, with Swan Tours scheduled at 9:30 a.m. and 1 p.m., in Yuba County north of Marysville in privately owned rice fields. Led by CDFW naturalists, this is an excursion into a prime Pacific Flyway overwintering grounds. Tours focus on the majestic and ancient tundra swan, but participants will also have the chance to see an assortment of geese, ducks, shorebirds and raptors. Sign up on Eventbrite. Tours have been modified to meet health and safety guidelines. For more information, visit wildlife.ca.gov/regions/2/swan-tours or email genelle.treaster@wildlife.ca.gov.
