Riverbank is growing by leaps and bounds and the downtown business district is no exception. From palate pleasing brunch spots such as Get Toasted to delicious pizza at Pizza Plus to culinary delights from Black Sheep, there are a number of places to stop and enjoy a few bites while walking around downtown. But there’s much more than eateries so while you’re strolling around, make sure to pop in to Bend the Trend, at 6730 Third St., Riverbank. The shop features vintage and unique finds such as one-of-a-kind home décor items and jewelry for a wide variety of individual styles.

From its inception, owners Lena Muniz and daughter-in-law, Danielle Muniz, sought ways to highlight local artisans while also bringing that touch of vintage variety to patrons.

“Lena has such great taste and she worked as an interior designer for many years and she brought all of that to our store,” said Danielle Muniz when noting that while their store features many things for the home there are also many special clothing pieces including denim rompers and fun holiday shirts.

Though they spent more than a year in Oakdale, they are enjoying their current location as it is conveniently located in downtown Riverbank and close to many of the local eateries and downtown shops.

“We are enjoying this location because we have the big display windows and we have been able to add a lot of new items because the space is pretty big,” Danielle explained.

Both Lena and Danielle believe in supporting local artisans and they feature several specialties from vendors around the region, including candles from Ripon Revivals that are made from olive oil and coconut wax and all natural tonics and bath and body gifts from Naturacentric Apothecary out of Turlock. They also host events including candle pouring experiences and they participate in local happenings like the Riverbank Saturday Night Market, which occurs every other Saturday evening in downtown Riverbank from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., continuing through Oct. 18.

Sharing their gifts for design and color and finding unique treasures has become a family affair for Lena and Danielle Muniz and they welcome all to come down and experience the magic and beauty of their store. Bend the Trend is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the first Sunday of every month.
