East Stanislaus Fire Safe Council hosts event
fire safe

Coming up on Saturday, May 2, it’s a residential green waste drop-off event, being hosted at the River Rafting Overflow Parking Lot at 18229 Sonora Road in Knights Ferry. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., or until the Dumpsters are full; this is a one day only drop off.

This event is being put on through the East Stanislaus Fire Safe Council, in partnership with the Army Corps of Engineers and Modesto Fire Department. The drop off is open to all residents in the Oakdale, Valley Home and Knights Ferry area. Dumpsters will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, and those dropping off items will be responsible for unloading their own vehicles and/or trailers.

Allowable items include leaves, grass clippings, weeds, branches, shrubbery and flowers. Shredded paper, clean pet bedding and untreated wood scraps will also be accepted.

Items with a diameter greater than six inches, tree stumps and root balls cannot be taken.

No household waste or trash will be accepted, including plastic bags, food containers, wrappers, glass, metal, utensils, hazardous wastes or textiles.

This is a free area-wide event, mostly within the Oakdale Rural Fire District boundaries, but all are welcome.
