Maintenance Work Due On Water Distribution System
riv ww

Officials at the City of Riverbank have announced that they will be performing chlorination and flushing preventative maintenance procedures on the city water system this week.

They say the chlorine maintenance should not affect water quality and stressed that the water will remain safe to use, but warn that “consumers who are sensitive to taste and odor changes in drinking water might notice a slight change during this period.”

They say that this palatability change does not alter the quality of the drinking water.

This routine maintenance will run from Wednesday, July 20 through Friday, July 29.

Officials also assured residents that during the maintenance period, the city’s drinking water distribution system will “continue to meet all federal and state water quality” standards.

They add that, for those residents on kidney dialysis or those who may have any health concerns, they are advised to contact their health care providers for more information about increased chlorine levels in their drinking water (for the 10-day period). Fish owners who have questions or concerns about their aquariums can contact a local pet store or vet for recommendation on any precautionary measures that might be necessary during this 10-day procedure.

Also, the Public Works Department-Water Division staff is available to answer any questions regarding the maintenance procedure; they can be reached at 209-869-7128. Residents are encouraged to review the most recent water quality report by visiting www.riverbank.org or by picking up a copy at City Hall.

And they issued a thank you to customers in advance and ask for “patience and cooperation during this routine maintenance activity.”
