A Riverbank man may spend the rest of his life in prison after pleading guilty to stabbing to death his mother, sister and brother-in-law and trying to kill his nephew.

Jesse Allen Frost, 39, read a statement in court admitting he deliberately murdered his mother Donna Norton, sister Judy Niemi and brother-in-law Anthony Niemi and also attempted to kill his 18-year-old nephew Matthew James.

Frost won awards as a heavyweight wrestler in high school and at Modesto Junior College but later fell victim to mental illness and drug addiction, according to relatives.

Police were called to Frost's home in the 6000 block of Arcaro Drive for a disturbance last Feb. 15. They found him in the front yard and four stabbing victims inside the house.

Frost is due to be sentenced on Oct. 27 and faces three consecutive terms of life in prison without the possibility of parole. In return for the plea, prosecutors agreed not to seek the death penalty.

The plea deal will save three children who were in the house at the time of the attack from having to testify at a trial, said relatives.
