Tickets are selling fast for the Saturday, Jan. 22 Riverbank Community Awards Dinner. They are available up to Monday, Jan. 17 from Jennifer Bustamante at City Hall. The cost is $15 per person.

An annual event sponsored by the City and Man of the Year/Citizen of the Year (MOY-COY) Club, the dinner will take place at the Community Center with a social hour at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7 p.m.

The dinner recognizes volunteers whose activities have contributed to the community during the past year. The Citizen of the Year, for which three people have been nominated, and Youth of the Year, which has drawn seven nominations, will be chosen by former winners and MOY/COY Club members. The Chamber of Commerce will announce the winner of four businesses nominated for Business of the Year.

Arnold Hoff is again the caterer for the buffet-style dinner. Otter Bob Productions will provide music.

Nominees for the Citizen of the Year for 2010 include Daren Martin, Ric McGinnis and Dotty Nygard.

Martin has been a Riverbank Public Works employee for more than 20 years and is deeply involved with local youth baseball and softball. McGinnis is a former city councilmember, Rio Arts leader and a photography, sound and lighting expert. Nygard is a registered nurse, Riverbank Community Gardens organizer and a political activist recently elected to serve a term on the Riverbank City Council.
