RLA's Festival Draws a Crowd

Saturday morning rain gave way to sunshine and the Riverbank Language Academy's third annual Cultural Fundraiser Festival entertained a cheerful crowd of several hundred people on the Church of Christ the King property that afternoon.

Sponsored by the Parent Teacher Student Association, the festival showcased an afternoon of entertainment for the whole family. Highlights included ballet folklorico dancers, student dance performances, children games/activities, science fair exhibits, great food, raffle prizes, music and much more.

There were also special performances by Baile Folklorico Viva Mexico, Chinese Drama Club, Dance Factory, Ha'Awi Hawaiian Dance School and Live Band Emerson Biggins to close the festival.

This festival produces a creative and entertaining program that displays many of its students' talents, linguistic achievements and diversity, said PTSA Executive President Reina Lopez-Negrete.

Profits from this event will assist in providing materials, field trips and activities that will help them achieve academic excellence, she said, in recognizing the many parents, businesses and organizations that donated their time, services and auction items.
